c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop

Hello,

I have my laptop setup with windows installed on a SSD (c:\) and all my other data on a separate hard drive (d:\). User folders are also located on drive d:\.

Everything was working fine until I started my laptop last night and didn't notice my d:\ had disconnected. I received the error c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop when I logged into my account, black screen, search bar did not work, etc. I checked my computer and noticed my d:\ was missing and then realized it was not connected. So I shut down my laptop attached the drive and started it up.

All my data is on the drive and my other accounts work fine. But my user account is still missing everything. When I log in it says it is using the default profile.

I have tried some of the solutions on the forums but they have not worked to this point. My C:\Users is linked to my D:\Users and seems to be working. I'm wondering if its just referencing the wrong locations.

Going to that folder "c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\" I do not have a desktop folder. If I put the one from "D:\User\" I don't receive that error anymore, but again I'm still missing everything else, I can't use window search, and my shortcuts from the start menu do not work.

Any help will be appreciated.
