Slow Lenovo Laptop

I had my friend bring over his laptop because it started running slower than it should. According to him, he has more of a problem running games (particularly LoL), but that it just runs slower in general.

I've gone into the msconfig to look at the services and startup, and there was nothing suspicious there. The task manager says that the CPU has pretty large spikes, but all I could find through there was that windows defender was using quite a bit of the CPU. So, since he has ESET on his laptop, I disabled windows defender (also by my boyfriends advice too. He's an IT guy, but has been too busy lately to really help too much on this).

I've also ran the windows updates that it needed. I have run ESET, superantispyware, and malwarebytes, and they haven't picked up on anything.

I went to the AMD site to update the graphics drivers. Got the Catalyst Control Center installed from that.

The C drive was 8% fragmented, so I defragged that.

I got ccleaner from cnet as well and ran that. Cleared out the noticeably useless things.

It has made it run a tad bit faster, but there is still something bogging it down.

Manufacturer: Lenovo
Model: Lenovo Win7 PC
Processor: AMD E-450 APU with Radeon HD Graphics
RAM: 6.00 GB (5.60) usable
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

The C drive has 229 GB available out of 283 GB.

The only thing I can figure, is maybe the processor is low? He said it ran better when he got it then it does now, but I can't find anything wrong with it. I'm new to the teching, and have run out of ideas.
