Satellite Boots into SYSTEM RECOVERY OPTIONS

Hit power “on” for my Satellite L775D-S7226 Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium with an AMD processor and instead of a boot I got a BSOD. I shut it completely down, waited a minute and rebooted. A SYSTEM RECOVERY OPTIONS window popped up, stating “Use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting Windows…If your OS isn’t listed, click Load Drivers and then install drivers for your hard disks.”

No OS was listed; clicked on Load Drivers and the ADD DRIVERS window opened: “Insert the installation media for the device and click OK to select the drive”

Clicked “OK” and the OPEN window appeared showing 3 HDs (in reality, partitions).

¨ Tl123456S8D ( C: ) standard folders for the OS, program and data files.

¨ System ( D: ) containing 2 folders Recovery (empty) and Temp and a number of log files

¨ BOOT ( X: ) containing 4 upper level folders: Program Files, sources, Users and Windows.

The bottom of this Window has two boxes. The first is one labeled “File Name”. The one below is a drop down menu labeled “Files of Type”, but only has one selection: Set Up Information.

I think the system is looking for set up information for the hard drive, but I have no idea where that can be found. Nor do I have any idea if my “diagnosis” is correct.

What do I do from here?

Additional info:
I have a lot of experience with XP but am a complete newbie with Win7.
I’m away from home in a small town in Minnesota, so the only resources I’ve got available are a co-worker’s antique XP laptop (sans CD burner), WiFi access, and a 4GB thumb drive.
The Win 7 laptop has ERUNT and Rollback Rx installed.
