it won't start

I was on the Internet this past weekend and my screen got all static looking like a TV.
When I used it this morning it was on and then it just shut down; no error messages or anything. The light is on showing the cord is plugged in. It will now not come on at all; the lights will flash; fans will run but nothing else. I have a lot of embroidery software on this thing and need some help. I was told it was a power issue but don't know what else to do.
