I was watching some video online with my laptop tonight, then when I was finished I set it down. When I went back to it, I wasn't able to get online. The network bars icon on the taskbar was grayed out with a slash through it (or something similar). I've seen the little spinning circle before indicating that it hadn't connected to a network yet, but never grayed out. I clicked on it and it said no connections were available at all. In Network and Sharing Center there's no Local Area Connection link anywhere, and after doing an ipconfig at the command prompt, it just tells me "media disconnected" - no IP at all.
I looked in Device Manager and I see a wireless device and a PCI adapter item; neither with any kind of X or exclamation mark on them. I rebooted the laptop, ran a Malwarebytes Antimalware scan - nothing. I double-checked using my iPhone, and my home wireless network is present and I connected to it with that.
I'm not sure I've seen this problem before. Just to be safe I completely disconnected/reconnected my modem and rebooted my router (in that order), but it made no difference.
Any ideas?
