Start up problems Gateway Notebook PC

Gateway logo appears at start up, but then screen goes black before Windows Desktop appears.
I've tried all the advance options and I am able to access bios and set USB CD-ROM to #1 in Boot Priority.
I've tried my Windows 8 Recovery discs, a PC-Wizard Repair Disc, and a new Windows 7 Service Pack, all unable to load and/or open as they normally would.
I've tried all the Troubleshooting tips from the gateway Manuel with no success.
Sometimes there is a flash of a page I can't quite read and one time a recovery window appeared to be loading, but to no avail.
I was also able to open and check for errors in the memory, but found no errors there.
Possibly the most troubling was the message concerning the Partition 3 Hard Disk c4dcea67 which seemed to freeze and didn't change anything.
I guess my fear is the problem is more serious. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
