I did a clean install of Win 7 Pro -64 bit OS onto a Gateway GT5069E Desktop PC thinking that XP on it had gotten slow and sluggish due to 'age'. But it doesn't boot any faster, and after booting it runs even more slowly now than before. It is a dual core MB with 2 GB of RAM and 500 GB of disk space. Is Win 7 even more consumptive of RAM or CPU than XP? Is the 64-bit version of Win 7 particularly consumptive. Would 2 more GB of RAM speed it noticeably? Is there any other way to improve performance? Thanks.
