Internet Explorer

Have Windows 7 64 bit. Updated to Internet Explorer 11. Have had intermittent problems of IE freezing/not responding. After several occurrences of this went on to Microsoft to see if there was a solution. Followed one piece of advice and in Tools/Internet Options/Advanced ticked box about screen pasting? can't remember what it was, it's the first option on that screen.

Since then cannot open IE. Reverted back to version 10, but same result. Screen opens blank, banner says IE not responding and screen shuts down.

Any suggestions please???
