Here is my issue. I've had some Bose desktop speakers for a few years now and out of the blue the sound from the speakers is very low even with the speakers all the way up. I've checked all possible system volume controls and everything is set to max. I know for a fact the speakers are not the problem because I tried them on my laptop and they have full volume as normal.
I know it's the pc. I recently used this program (DriverBooster) that's supposed to update all my drivers. I'm not sure if this started happening right after that or if it was happening before I used the program. I'm not sure because I don't use the speakers every day. All I know is that I thought of that as a possible cause and I went into device manager and rolled back the drivers. Still same problem.
My motherboard has all the speaker connections in the back and I am obviously connecting the speakers to the lime green port. It dawned on me yesturday that I had an additional headphone port on the front of the pc so I went ahead and connected the speakers to the front and speakers work fine...
So now I'm thinking drivers aren't the issue either. Could it be that the back port is defective or somehow no longer working properly? or is there something I can troubleshoot to get that back and running?
Even though I've found a workaround, I would like to use the back port as I always keep the front panel cover closed to prevent dust from getting in and wouldn't want it open all the time just to plug in the speakers.
