All user related files gone on startup.

Hi, I'm posting this on behalf of a friend. He doesn't really know what he's doing at all when it comes to computers. He just turns it on, goes on the internet and plays music with it.

But recently all of his music, documents and pictures were missing when he turned his computer on, and since that day whenever he turns the computer on, all of the files he added have disappeared. I have witnessed it myself, it's quite strange. The files are not in the Recycle bin, system restore won't work as his earliest restore point is only a few days ago. The files are just nowhere on the system (like if you search C:\ for one of the songs he used to have, it doesn't turn up. Everything else functions correctly, however.

I know there is something that does this, because library computers do this purposefully. But I don't know what it is. I have installed Malwarebytes on the computer a few threats were found but I think they were all unrelated. I removed them anyway, however. I also scanned with his anti-virus software (Comodo, which I actually put on there). The virus definitions were up to date on both.

His computer is running Windows 7 Ultimate (it is a pirate copy, but he says there's been no other weird problems at all and that this problem only started recently).

I did think that it could be trying to log onto a temporary account, but it seems this isn't the case as his name shows in the start menu, and when I save a file in his documents (accessed from start menu) they are in fact in his user account folder (C:\Users\Luke\Documents).

Don't think the specs are really necessary seeing that this is a software issue.

Thanks, on behalf of Luke.
