Recently I have been experiencing problems with watching videos and playing music on my laptop. The majority of the time the playback is fine, but every few minutes for a split second the sound will screech, the sound is scratchy and is as if the music has been slowed down a lot, or is about to crash. I have observed my CPU usage when these errors occur and it doesn't seem like the CPU usage spikes, I've tried reinstalling audio drivers, graphics drivers and installing new codecs etc. and the problem still occurs, though it seems to be happening less frequently.
It is possible that it is due to some type of malware as it began to occur after I stupidly installed a suspicious program, I have ran a lot of anti malware and anti virus software with some succssfull removals, furthermore, this is a new laptop so it is unlikely to be through wear and tear (I hope..). Also, this error occurs on any speakers that are plugged in to the laptop, suggesting it's not the laptops internal speakers that are the problem.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, this is really quite frustrating, thanks.
