Hi I just upgraded my internet today. Installed a new modem and dual band router. Now my laptop isn't connecting properly to the wireless.
I set up my router through a hard connect, which is what I'm using now. After turning my wireless adapter back on to test out the speed of the 5ghz band my network icon in the bottom right of my screen will have a yellow exclamation point on it and it says "No internet access". I opened chrome on a whim and was actually getting service so I ran a speed test and was seeing a significant speed drop.
I upgraded to 50 Mbps. My wired connection was giving me about a 50 Mbps download and the wireless (with "no internet access") was giving me about 35.
I tried setting up a static IP in the ipv4 settings and was having the same problem. Lo and behold when I changed my settings back to auto detect, the "No internet access" went away! I ran a speed test on my wireless and was getting about 52 Mbps download. I played BF4 for a good two hours then turned my laptop off and ran some errands.
Once I returned home I turned my laptop back on and now the "No internet access" is back. Speed test is giving me about 35 Mbps download again.
I have an old laptop running windows 7 and I remember having the same problems trying to connect it to the internet but that was years ago and I can't remember.
Any ideas what my problem could be or how to fix it? Any help would be appreciated
Thank you
