IE not visible and white screens

My Skype became just a white screen and I discovered that it relies on the settings of IE. Then I saw that my IE had disappeared. The body of my POP emails is also a white screen, but the subject line and from whom is ok. But on my web-based email, everything is fine. While I was downloading IE11, icon was on task bar. But when I rebooted to complete download, the IE icon disappeared. When I tried to start IE via the Start button, I can see the IE folder. But clicking on it has no effect. No error message either.

I am using FF to gain internet access.

Any ideas on what might be making the message bodies a white screen? Also how do I retrieve IE?
