clear hard drive

I have a Dell desktop computer with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. I am donating this computer but I want to make sure data is not on my hard drive. I use an Apple ipod to work on various business matters. My question is, when I enter data on my Ipod does this data enter on to the hard drive of my desktop computer?

I will appreciate any and all assistance with this question.
