Hello
I encountered a problem with my internet connection and I believe it may have to do with DNS. I can't access the internet at all on my laptop, neither Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Firefox work. I ran a diagnostics test and received this message: "The remore device or resource won't accept the connection." More details state that "the device or resource (www.microsoft.com) is not set up to accept connections on port 'The World Wide Web service (HTTP).' I've searched through many forums and tried countless possible solutions:
Resetting my computer
Power cycling the modem
Resetting Internet browser settings
Flushing the DNS via cmd
Releasing and renewing the IP address (Note: cmd is unable to renew the IP because it fails to connect to the DHCP server)
Disabling Windows Firewall
Checking for proxy settings that may be checked
I'm using a wired connection that goes directly to the modem, no router. An interesting thing to note is that I am able to connect to the internet via mobile hotspot on my Android phone. I've already contacted my ISP (Comcast) and they believe it's a computer related issue but through my trials, this doesn't seem to be the case. It looks like a DNS issue.
