icon question

I would like to put a shortcut on my desktop of TSG. Then i would like to put the ico (like to the left of the URL in address bar) but I forget how.

I think it something like forums.techguy.org/fav.ico then save to HD then select change icon.

Could someone plz tell me the correct way to do it.
