Strange breakdowns

I have a Toshiba Laptop with intel core i3. I have had it for a while and it was perfectly fine until a year ago when I started getting the Bluescreen virus. After a friend "presumably" washed it all up and backed it up on the laptop it started something new. Instead of having any warnings it started to "freeze", not in the sense that it wont work but something else. For example, I mainly observed this while using the internet, at anytime the internet would stop working so I would hover over the internet button on the bottom right to try to fix the connection buy it wouldn't open. If I tried to access the network and sharing center it wouldnt go in. Then I wouldnt be able to do anything. When I tried to shut it down, it would tell me shutting down but it wouldn't do so. It would just keep saying: Windows is shutting down... Following that, I sent it to an office where they formatted my laptop completely and downloaded Windows 7 Enterprise. When I got it back the problem stayed but it took much longer to happen, as in it took 10min for it to show before but now it takes 50min. I tried something smart and it somewhat worked. Since it wouldnt let me go into the network and sharing center I would just keep it open from the start. However, this had the same affect and maybe increased the time to 2hrs. I really don't know if this is a software or hardware problem. I tend to believe it is hardware since it was formatted.

PLEASE HELPP:(:(:o:o
It's torture cause I can barely do anything cause it's always doing this.
Thanks in advance :D:D

Windows 7-64 bit Updates disabling

On Dec. 22nd, 2014, Microsoft Tech Escalations' final answer to determine why my Updates were being disabled at reboot was to create another user acct & delete my original acct.It didn't work. Afterwards, I removed Vosteran and Ask.com on my own from Chrome browser. I removed stuff like mysearchdial, brain something and another 'my'. Today, I ran that adware and removed util megabrowse. Still disabling at reboot.

Every day I check.Every day i see that no updates were ever done and there are never any that are required (probably due to the new acct which has caused much mischief.). Every day, 2x a day, i run Updates, BitDefender and Malwarebytes.

Oh, Escalations created a restore point on 12/22 and a couple of days ago Updates troubleshooter created another one berfore it determined there were no problems. Are the two created for the same purpose or for different ones ...

Today, I went online for more info and found that a windows update released early 12/2014 was glitched and the new one just released last week could be manually uploaded. My updates say there are no new ones. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/system...ch-tuesday.htm

However, this article below says the problem is specific to Windows 7, particularly 64-bit. I followed its instructions and could not find Update KB3004394 in order to replace it with the new one.

http://www.ubergizmo.com/2014/12/mic...004394-update/

Could it be the bad patch or the fact that I have a new user account in a different directory/place?

Suggestions?

Ok awhile back I turn on computer and all my short cuts will disappear and then reappear as a white silhouette then slowly all will have color and see what they are. Also on my task bar is a fork standing straight up with monitor that when I turn on computer there will be a blue spinning circle around it very slow responding at that time and internet not possible with spinning circle. then it clears and I get network 2 Internet access. Also I do not remember what they say. These rectangle squares that pop up, three of them I suspect they are from When I plugged in Ipod because they are talking about some library dll.etc. I am going to post this, turn off my computer to get those messages when I x them out individually there is a horn for each one.

Here is what each one say`s

Confused about RAM - Puzzling Issues

Hello,

Thank you for taking time to check out my recent issues with my computer memory. Recently my RAM has been extremely used when I'm only running a few programs such as a Steam.

For example, take a look at this screenshot here: http://gyazo.com/bca01686908f5bc1389a441e069b6c8c

The above screenshot was taken when I just had Steam and some (way less taxing) programs in the background running. When I restart my computer, this seems to remedy the fact that so much of my memory is being used, but what is odd is that my memory is "being used" extremely more frequently than before. I use to not restart my computer until about every 2 weeks. Now it is necessary that I restart it every day, or multiple times in a day, so that I can play games with reasonable FPS. I'm not quite sure what is causing this issue. Do I need to get more RAM?

Attached is my DxDiag so that you can see my computer specifications and such. Thank you :)

Send To options missing

From the number of posts on this subject this appeears to be a common problem. Hoever, I still have not found the answer to my problem : Some options on the Send To box do not appear, despite them being in the hidden folder C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendToA\. list of the files that are there are in the attachment.

The following are missing from the Send To menu :

Compressed (zipped) folder, Documents.mydocs, Mail Recipient. The "One file to Mail Recipient" is something I added since I have had the problem and it allows me to send one file to a mail recipient, not several files that the missing Mail Recipient option used to do.

I am using Windows 7 Pro with SP1, Email client is Thunderbird ver 31.3.0 and it is set as the default email client. I have tried re-installing T/bird but as I suspected (since other options are absent) it did not restore the missing options. I have also tried copying the options from the "default" send to folder and also writing new files in my send to folder, without success. I do not see the missing send to options when I press Shift before selecting a file either. I suspect the problem lies in the registry - it is clearly a problem with not just the Send To > Mail recipent link. I have used Ccleaner to "clean" the registry in the past. I have had this problem for a while now and I cannot roll back the system to a time when it worked. Any help or suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Bizarre audio problems

$

I'm having trouble pinpointing what is even happening, but my computer is definitely having audio problems, resulting in sporadic loss of audio which mysteriously returns, seemingly in response to certain things.

Things haven't been working perfectly for a few days. There seems to be something of a pattern, certain behaviors that toggle things between "working" and "not working."

Whenever I attempt to listen to a video from Tumblr, the sound seems to break. (not 100%, but at least 60% or 70% of the time) I don't just mean "the video doesn't make any sound," I mean I can't hear any sounds from any source at all. Media Player throws out an error message, flash and youtube videos are silent, Steam games fail to make sound, all manner of things.

There's a flash game I've been using to restore the sound, using a teleporter seems to fix things most of the time, about as likely as the Tumblr videos will break things. For some reason, the music doesn't return right away, but the in game sound effects play properly. Restarting the game after hearing a sound always restores the music.

Right now things are in an odd state: I attempted to watch a Tumblr video while listening to a playlist on Windows Media Player. The video did not play any sound, and the song I was listening to did not stop playing, but attempting to listen to a new song caused Windows Media Player to throw out an error message, indicating that we've reached the "not working" state. At this point, I tried to return to the previous playlist, and bizarrely enough, it seems to have worked! Nothing ELSE seems to work, including games, videos and all that stuff, but the playlist has been working just fine for about 20 minutes. (though when I attempted to return to the playlist, it mysteriously switched to the middle of a song I was not listening to. Normally it just picks up where you left off, I don't know why it did that)

The Media Player error I get is "Windows Media Player error C00D11B1: Windows Media Player can't play the file." Another game helpfully informs me "No sound device detected. Sound might not play." I have been using headphones exclusively since before the problem began, and I assure you they are securely plugged in. I use Firefox, and my computer is a slightly-old dekstop computer, 5-6 years or so.

Update: Audio seems to have returned for most of Firefox, but my other games and programs are still plagued by errors. Starting to wonder how many of the perceived symptoms were just superstitious. :|

windows 7 startup repair/rescue and recovery woes

$

Hi there,

I have a lenovo think pad x100e with windows 7. Two days ago while using the word processor it began to freeze and show weird translucent screenshot like images. I suspect this started to happen after I installed f.lux to decrease blue light on my screen. The first time the freeze happened the system eventually unfroze but the second time, I tried many times to press Ctrl+alt+Del and the system rebooted and since then I have not been able to get into the operating system. It keeps indicating that windows is loading and showing the bar indicating progress and then it will send me to the thinkvantage rescue and recovery 4 screen. After 10 or 15 minutes a window will indicate that the rescue and recovery workspace is starting and it may be another 15-20 minutes before it indicates it is checking for repairs. It appears to still be processing and not frozen (I can move the mouse/cursor) but I've left it on overnight before and it never completes the repairs or restarts like it indicates will happen once they are completed. Occasionally it won't even get to the checking for repairs window.

This process happens whether I choose the option to continue with windows normally or the option to check for repairs. Also if I interrupt normal startup and hit f11 or try to go into the setup utility. When I try to run diagnostics I get errors. Verification failed.

I was just at the end of writing a 250 page book and I'd like to be able to recover that file and others related to the book. I'm hoping I can get the startup repairs to happen without having to reformat the hard drive and erase all the info. I'm hoping upon hope that this is an easy fix and all can be restored. My deadline for finishing this book is this week and I am kicking myself for not uploading my latest book revisions to my cloud drive this week! Can anyone please, please help? Thank you. -T

Task Scheduler Error Message

The Task Scheduler in Windows 7 suddenly got the error message: "The selected task "{0}" no longer exists." The problem seems to be in the AppID folder as the PolicyConverter task suddenly flew out of the computer. I wanted to recreate this task but cannot create a new task in that folder. Nothing happens when clicking on AppID even though I sign in as Administrator. I have no problem creating a new task in any other folder though. I then wanted to delete the entire folder and recreate the 2 tasks but the AppID folder would not delete. Any help or suggestion would be very appreciated.Thanks.

"This page uses fonts that need to be temporarily installed. This is usually safe. Do you want to allow these fonts to be downloaded?"
I see this pop up on nearly every site I visit?
In the control panel I changed "Download Fonts" from "Prompt" to "Disable".
This had no effect!
Can anyone please help?

Thank you.

Need help on SLOW paging...

Ok, where to begin? I have Windows 7 64bit. I've tried 3 different browsers. Firefox (default) Chrome, and I.E. I want to continue with Firefox. About 2 mo ago my computer began to load pages VERY slow..average time 15-25 seconds I've cleared cache, new installs, run Malware antimalware software, system mechanic professional, fix cleaner, tuneup pro, and maybe it's helped a little, but..not really. I'm using Panda Internet security 2014, I have 8G of memory. Only messages I've received are timed out. I've cut way back on my start up programs, running in the background and no help. Anyone have any ideas you could give me. My support company I had went belly up but that's a story for a different time
Thanks James

Having problems with crashing

$

A few days ago, my PC crashed suddenly, without a blue screen. After that, the crashing became frequent, with blue screens. I decided to reinstall windows 7, as I was due to do it anyway, after trying to diagnose the problem - to no avail.

After a clean install, the problems came back. Not caused by anything in particular - it seems. Every once in a while, the system just crashes. It may be on for hours, or just minutes. Right now I had a particularily bad moment, when the crashing stopped me from booting, even into safe mode.

Windbg did blame rdyboost.sys for some of the crashes - before and after the clean install.

Ran a memtest today, nothing showed up.

Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: I accidentally installed 32-bit Windows while reinstalling, and had it for a day. (I was really tired). No crashes occured then.
I just got a crash with the culprit as ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!NtSetInformationThread+3c6e ). Apparently this points to hardware? My crashes seem to generally have different culprits.

Just took out my older pair of RAM (2+2), to see what happens.

I'm trying to install Windows Updates and the automatic update seems to have stopped working.

When I try to check for updates it says I need the Windows Update Installer Tool.
I have downloaded this several times but always get the above error code.

I also ran the Windows Troubleshooter.
It found and fixed several problems but not this one

There seems to have been only a couple threads previously.
I tried their recommendations but that didn't fix the problem.

One looked promising until they said they'd fix the issues for $70.

I an using AVG Free antivirus on that computer.
Would that have anything to do with this?

Thank you, as always

I had what I thought was some kind of monitor problem one day. Turned out that my power supply up and died after many years of service. So I bought a new one (Thermaltake Smart650w) and I bought a new case (just because the old one was...OLD). Everything was now shiny and new and running fine. Until...

I usually keep my computer running all the time and only shut off the monitor at night. It usually only takes about 20 - 30 seconds to load the OS and be up and running. Now it takes about 5+ minutes. After noticing that everyone who posts to this forum uses Tech Support Guy System Info Utility, I did the same. The thing I notice right away is that my GPU (EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti) isn't even listed. I'm guessing this could be the source of my problem but I don't know how to fix it.

In my DEVICE MANAGER under DISPLAY ADAPTERS it list Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 first. Then it list my GPU as NVIDA GeForce GTX 650 Ti. Shouldn't my video card be the only one listed? Could this cause my boot drive (an SSD) to hang up?

Lastly, the weird thing is if I do either a restart or shut the computer off and then turn it on right away, the OS loads normally and very quickly. The slow loading only happens if the computer has been off for awhile (longer than a half hour or so). I'm a senior with just enough computer knowledge to get me into trouble, although I built my own computer, so any answers need to be fairly clear and straightforward please!

Thanks in advance for any help!

hi; happy new year to all.
sorry for bothering you at this time but i have a serious problem that will surely lead me to trouble soon and i need you help.
i have a HP COMPAQ 6715b laptop that is been running window 7 that was brought to at my repairing shop with a broken screen to be replaced. it could power on at the time the owner brought it to me. i then took a working screen from another HP COMPAQ 6710b that had been working fine with the intention of ordering a new on because the customer needed his computer urgently. at first when i instilled the screen from the HP COMPAQ 6710b, it worked for about 3hrs and i then closed it awaiting the customer to come and pick it up. frustratingly when he came for it, it could no longer display.

can someone please help me out of this problem
